The Department of English, College of Literature, Aoyama Gakuin University, Tokyo, Japan, invites applications for the position of Associate Professor or Professor as outlined below.

〔Job details〕
Field of specialization: TESOL, Communication, or closely related fields

Job Duties:
〔1〕 Coordinate the Integrated English Program (a 2-year academic English program for 1st and 2nd year students) .
〔2〕 Hire, orient, and mentor adjunct faculty.
〔3〕 Engage in curriculum and materials development, program evaluation, and test creation.
〔4〕 Teach a seminar, a lecture course, graduate courses in communication, as well as graduation thesis and possibly MA thesis advising.
〔5〕 Have a willingness to engage in activities that benefit the department. (e.g., assistance in coordinating study abroad programs and participation in departmental and university-wide committees)

Employment begins April 1, 2019
QualificationsRequirements:

Candidate must meet ALL of the following criteria:
〔1〕 Native speaker of English or equivalent competency.
〔2〕 Doctorate (or other evidence of advanced research acumen) in TESOL, Communication, or closely related fields.
〔3〕 Minimum of three years university teaching experience in Japan.
〔4〕 Experience coordinating an academic English program.
〔5〕 Background in curriculum/ materials development and exam creation.
〔6〕 Professionalism as shown through a substantial number of publications and academic conference presentations in relevant areas.
〔7〕 Japanese ability sufficient to fulfill administrative responsibilities and to participate in meetings conducted in Japanese.

〔3〕 Copy of diploma (highest/latest degree; color copy or digital image).
〔4〕 Copies/reprints of three published works (journal articles, book chapters, books, etc.). Please include abstracts of three main works. (200 words in English)
〔5〕 Finalists invited for interviews will also be required to submit two letters of recommendation with the name, affiliation, position, email, and other contact details of the referees.
〔6〕 Any qualifications demonstrating Japanese language proficiency.
