To students, faculty members, and administrative staff,

■Travel restrictions

The travel advisory guidelines from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan (MOFA) have been updated daily since the coronavirus outbreak spread to countries such as China, South Korea, Iran and Italy.

Students and faculty members are strongly cautioned against travelling to any country/region where the MOFA’s infectious disease alert level is “Level 2” or higher, Travel to these areas should not be undertaken until there is a return to “Level 1”.
Any student, faculty and staff who are currently in an area categorized as “Level 2” or higher should immediately return to Japan.

Please check the MOFA website below for the alert level of each country/region.

Level 1: Yellow - Exercise caution
Level 2: Pale orange - Avoid non-essential travel
Level 3: Orange -Avoid all travel
Level 4: Red - Evacuate and avoid all travel

■Students, faculty and staff who have returned from an area where the infectious disease alert level is Level 2 or higher

Please self-isolate for about two weeks during the incubation period while rigorously checking your conditions, and avoid all unnecessary travel.
If you have any symptoms such as a fever or a cough, please call the Returnees and Contact Center immediately by phone.
- Students and part-time lecturers should call the Healthcare Administration Center at 03-3409-7896.
- Full-time faculty members and administrative staff including part-time staff should contact the dean or director of your department.

■Overseas travel during the spring holidays

If you plan to travel abroad, please make your safety the top priority and revise or cancel your travel based on the latest information, not only about heavily infected countries and regions but also their neighboring countries.
When coming back to Japan from abroad, you might be subject to a self-quarantine for two weeks depending on the area in which you stayed. Please check the latest information.
To students who are due to travel abroad in the university-sponsored overseas programs, the organizers may need to contact you. Please check the Student Portal regularly.

■ If you suspect you have symptoms

If you have a fever or other symptoms of cold, please refrain from coming to the university or going out.
If you have any of the following symptoms, consult your local Returnee Contact Center by phone and follow the instructions.

1. The symptoms of a cold or fever of 37.5 degree or higher continue for 4 days or more (or about 2 days for the elderly or those with pre-existing conditions)
2. You feel fatigued or experience shortness of breath

■Reporting infection when you are tested positive or have close contact with those who are positive

If you, or a family member who lives with you, are infected, or you have close contact with those who are tested positive, please refrain from coming to the university. If you are student or a part-time lecturer, please call the Healthcare Administration Center at 03-3409-7896 immediately. Full-time faculty and administrative staff including part-time staff should report to the dean or director of your department.
New type coronavirus infection (COVID-19) is defined as a "designated infectious disease" by a Cabinet Order and is considered as a "first-class infectious disease" as stipulated in the School Health and Safety Law.

■How to prevent infection

To minimize the spread of infections it is necessary to prevent the creation of a cluster or small group of infected cases. Please avoid gathering together in groups in poorly ventilated and/or crowded spaces, and continue to take measures against infectious diseases such as the wearing of masks, cough etiquette, hand washing, and gargling.
