International Students (Research Students) recommended by the Embassy
Please check the information provided by the Japanese embassy or consulate in your country (the schedule varies slightly depending on the country).
(1) Process of becoming a MEXT scholarship international student
After being selected by an overseas diplomatic office, accepted by the university, and selected by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, you will be accepted as a MEXT scholarship international student.
Please confirm the details in the application guidelines of MEXT.
(* You are not allowed to receive other scholarships at the same time.)
(2) Scholarship amount, etc.
¥146,000 to ¥148,000 (including regional premiums) for graduate schools, other school expenses during enrollment, and return travel expenses

Up until the shortest term of the regular courses

school year of 2023: 2 students, school year of 2024: 2 students
Information on researchers at Aoyama Gakuin University Graduate School
(1) Information on researchers belonging to Aoyama Gakuin University can be confirmed below.
(2) When applying for a letter of acceptance it is not necessary to contact the desired faculty in advance.
(3) We do not restrict you from personally contacting faculty members of your interest, but please note that the International Center cannot provide personal contact information of faculty members to applicants.
If you wish to receive a letter of acceptance from Aoyama Gakuin University
After passing the first selection of a diplomatic office abroad, please send the following documents by e-mail to the Aoyama Gakuin University International Center.
Please check the details in the application guidelines of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology.
(1) Certificate of passing the first round of selection issued by diplomatic offices abroad (copy)
(2) All application documents (copies) submitted to the Japanese Embassy/Consulate at the time of application
※Please be sure to check the application documents, as they are also listed in the information and the application guidelines of the diplomatic offices abroad / Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology.

②Major fields and research plans (designated by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology)
③Certificate of grades from college
④Graduation (completion) certificate or diploma from the university
※Persons who are expected to graduate (completion) should submit a certificate of expected graduation (completion)
⑤Recommendation letter from the head, or the faculty in charge, of the last registered university
⑥Medical Certificate
⑦Summary of thesis (only if submitted to diplomatic offices abroad)
⑧Language competence certificate (※ only if submitted to diplomatic offices abroad)
⑨Recommendation letter from current supervisor at work (*only if submitted to diplomatic offices abroad)
⑩Recorded digital media of photographs or performances of works (※ only if submitted to diplomatic offices abroad)
Note: Do not submit a "university application for placement" under any circumstances.

(1) The deadline for application of acceptance for the school year of 2025 is August 9, 2024 (JST).
No application will be accepted after the deadline date.
(2) Approximately 2 weeks to 1 month will be required to determine acceptance.
Please note that it will take longer than usual to make decisions during the school summer vacation period (early August to mid-September).
(3) The review results will be sent by email from the relevant Graduate School.
If your application is accepted, we will send an "Acceptance Letter" by e-mail attachment.
