On Monday, December 18, 2023, the inauguration ceremony of the President and Vice President of Aoyama Gakuin University was held at The Charles Oscar Miller Memorial Chapel, officiated by Professor OOMIYA Ken, the Dean of University Religious Affairs.

Following a prayer by Professor ITOH Satoru, the Dean of Aoyama Gakuin Religious Affairs, the oath was taken by Chancellor YAMAMOTO Yoshiharu, Professor OOMIYA Ken, newly appointed President INAZUMI Hiroshige (professor, School of Social Informatics), newly appointed Vice President SUGIMOTO Taku (professor, College of Education, Psychology and Human Studies), newly appointed Vice President NAKASATO Munenori (professor, Graduate School of International Management), and Vice President UCHIDA Tatsuya (professor, School of Internatinal Politics, Economics and Communication) who will be continuing his role.

Following the oath, Chancellor YAMAMOTO introduced the personal histories and specializations of the new president and vice-president, after which the inaugural address was given by President INAZUMI, as the 20th University president.

“Over the next four years, as president, I would like to place importance on two pillars of educational and research initiatives: "a stance that respects diversity" and "the power to work together across barriers." I would like to make every effort to create an environment where people can freely share their opinions and ideas. After serving as Vice President for four years, I received help from many people when I was appointed the 20th President. I hope to continue to work together with you throughout my term of office.”

President INAZUMI’s address was followed by those of Vice President SUGIMOTO Taku (In Charge of School and Student Affairs), Vice President NAKASATO Munenori (In Charge of General Affairs / Industry-government-academia Cooperation), and Vice President UCHIDA Tatsuya (In Charge of Public Relations / International Affairs), each conveying their goals and ambitions.

At the end of the ceremony, Chief Executive HOTTA Nobumitsu gave a congratulatory address, and the inauguration ceremony was concluded with a blessing by Professor ITOH.
