On June 11, 2025 (Wednesday), "Edo-era makeup and Beni Workshop" was held at the International Commons on the first floor of Building 7, Aoyama Campus. About 30 students, including both international students and AGU non-international students, participated in the workshop and learned about Beni and Edo makeup culture.

Ms. Mika Yagihara from the Beni Museum operated by Isehan, a Beni shop with 200 years of history, was invited as the instructor. She gave a lecture on the process of making Beni, the makeup culture of the Edo period, and the profound meaning of red as a "charm against evil." After the lecture, all participants had the opportunity to try applying "Komachi Beni", a cosmetic rouge made from the red pigment of safflower. Most of the students had never actually tried Komachi Beni before, and they made new discoveries, such as how the rouge's color subtly changed depending on the individual applying it.

At the end of the event, participants enjoyed tea and snacks, having exchange with other participants and lecturers. For all students, it was a valuable experience to learn about Beni and Edo makeup culture.
