Three Aoyama Gakuin University Rugby Players Chosen to Join “Sakura Fifteen” Japan Women’s Rugby Team European Tour

CATEGORY

Three members of the Aoyama Gakuin University (AGU) Rugby Football Club were selected to join the European tour of the Sakura Fifteen, the Japanese national women's rugby team under the 15-player rugby format. Aoyama Gakuin University members included Makoto Ebuchi (fourth-year student in the Department of Global Studies and Collaboration, School of Global Studies and Collaboration), Moe Tsukui (second-year student in the Department of History, College of Literature), and Sora Konishi (second-year student in the Department of Economics, College of Economics).

The European tour started immediately following a training camp in Ibaraki Prefecture, with the Sakura Fifteen facing off against the Italian national women's team on Saturday, November 16, 2019, and against the Scottish national women's team on Sunday, November 24.

The tour was intended to further strengthen Japan's team in preparation for the 2021 Rugby World Cup for women in New Zealand, which will also follow the 15-player format. We encourage everyone to continue cheering on these three rugby players from Aoyama Gakuin University.
