The 98th Kanto Intercollege Athletics Championships took place at Sagamihara Gion Stadium in Sagamihara city from May 23th to 26th, 2019.
Marumi Kanai (4th year) competed in the women’s 100-meter hurdles and garnered a third-place finish, while a tenacious run in the women’s 200-meter dash by Amika Miyazaki (3rd year) landed her a third-place finish as well.
The women’s 4x100 meter relay team—Kanai, Kimi Kamimura (4th year), Azusa Sasaki (3rd year), and Yuna Itoh (3rd year) -- took home the second prize. Itoh also secured fifth place in the 100 meters and seventh in the 200 meters.
In other successes, Atsushi Nakano (4th year) won his first victory in the men’s second category 100-meter hurdles and Ryo Kikuchi (4th year) gained second place in the men’s second category triple jump.
