On October 21st, a group of Vietnamese students from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh visited Aoyama Gakuin University as part of their Japan-Vietnam student exchange tour.

Five of the students had received the highest and second highest awards at the NASIC Cup Japanese Speech Contest in September, 2019. The contest was hosted by the Student Support Center (Tokyo, Japan) and sponsored by the National Students Information Center or NASIC (Kyoto, Japan).

During their cultural exchange gathering with AGU, Professor Tsutomu Kikuchi, Vice President of AGU said “Over six hundred international students from more than forty countries study at AGU. We are hoping to expand student exchanges with universities in South East Asia including Vietnam.” Ms. Mai Thuy Trang, a fourth year student from Vietnam studying at AGU, explained to her fellow students the difference between Vietnam and Japan regarding student life style and informed them that AGU offered the kind of opportunities that allow a student to become the person they want to be.

Ms. Nguyen Guin Ain of Hanoi University, who gained first place in the speech contest, told the Mainichi Daily how surprised she was that Japan has clearer air than Hanoi. She also thought that all the students appeared kind and seemed to be able to realize their study goals.
