TITLE

4 students of College of Literature, Department of Japanese Language and Literature receive awards at the 21st Wakayama Bokusui Tanka Contest of Youth.

CATEGORY

4 students from the College of Literature Department of Japanese Language and Literature, attending Professor Hioki Shunji’s seminars, has been awarded for their Tanka, at the 21st Wakayama Bokusui Tanka Contest of Youth (Miyazaki, Nobeoka City).
※Tanka is a traditional Japanese poem containing five lines of 5, 7, 5, 7 and 7 syllables, respectively.

The Wakayama Bokusui Tanka Contest of Youth begun in honor of Wakayama Bokusui, who started reading Tanka at Nobeoka City where he spent his younger days.
Beginning in the year 2000, this traditional contest receives Tanka from all over the country. For the 21st contest held, the winning entries were chosen from a total of 20,783 Tanka.

Professor Hioki’s Seminars regularly have award winning students in Tanka Contests.
