Professor Hashimoto Osamu and Research Associate Suga Ryosuke of the Department of Electrical Engineering and Electronics, succeed in developing effective magnetic shielding technology.

CATEGORY

The Institute of Environmental and Electromagnetic Engineering under the direction of Professor Hashimoto Osamu (College of Science and Engineering, Department of Electrical Engineering and Electronics) is researching methods of absorbing or preventing unnecessary electromagnetic waves, in a situation where the EM environment deteriorates.

The laboratory has succeeded in developing a technology that can increase magnetic shielding effectiveness by an approximate factor of 3.2. This was achieved by making a hole in a copper sheet and attaching a metallic cylinder inside the hole.
This technology is expected to be installed into automobiles equipped with a large number of electronic devices.
