Professor KAJISA Kei from the School of International Politics, Economics, and Communication, published the “Community, State, and Market in Economic Development: Changing Roles in Modernizing Asian Villages” in 2020. This work was awarded the JASID Award at the 31st national tournament of The Japan Society for International Development.
This prize is given in accordance with the research results of a member of the Society, and it has been 5 years since the last one was awarded.

Professor Kei’s publication was highly rated as an outstanding academic work in the field of international development. It was its demonstration of the role that communities, nations, and markets should play in societies facing the challenges of "rural-to-urban population outflow" and "community dysfunction", based on abundant field research and empirical analysis of data in Asia that led to the award.
