Economics Essay Contest and Student Prize Essays

Every year, we hold a contest for essays and essays related to economics. The topics of essays and essays are open to a wide variety of choices. Special Lectures

In order to support students aiming to obtain highly challenging national qualifications, such as tax accountant qualifications, we offer special courses in specialized fields outside of the classroom and provide detailed instruction.

■ Special Course for Certified Tax Accountants
In response to the growing awareness among students regarding obtaining qualifications and to broaden their future career options, we offer a special tax accountant course as an extracurricular activity, separate from the regular curriculum of the Faculty of College of Economics. A tax accountant's main job is to act as an agent or representative for tax filings and applications, prepare and handle tax documents, and provide tax consultations. Recently, they have also been taking on management consulting work, making it a very popular qualification.
This course is taught by instructors from the "Aogaku Gakuin Accountants Club," which is comprised of tax accountants and certified public accountants who are alumni of Aoyama Gakuin University. It offers lectures on bookkeeping, income tax law, inheritance tax law, corporate tax law, and other subjects, along with kind and thorough guidance for the exams. With instructors who are active on the front lines of practice, the lectures are full of real-world experience and the guidance is practical. For students who are interested in the profession of tax accountant or certified public accountant but have few opportunities to interact with practitioners, this special course will be an excellent opportunity to learn about the work and challenge themselves to obtain the qualifications.
Furthermore, this course also covers bookkeeping theory, making it a valuable resource not only for those aiming for the Certified Public Accountant exam but also for those aiming for the Japan Chamber of Commerce and Industry Bookkeeping Examination.

■ FP (Financial Planner) Qualification Course
As part of our support for students to obtain qualifications, we have opened a course to obtain the FP Level 3 qualification. FP qualifications are available from Level 1 to Level 3, and became a national qualification in 2002. To obtain the FP qualification, students must study six broad subjects: "Life Planning," "Risk Management (Insurance)," "Financial Asset Management," "Real Estate Utilization," "Tax Planning," and "Inheritance/Business Succession." It can be said that learning about money that will be necessary in the future while you are a student is essential to becoming an "independent member of society." In addition, many financial institutions such as banks, securities, and insurance, as well as the real estate industry, encourage their employees to obtain FP qualifications, so this course is perfect for students who wish to work in these industries. For those who have passed Level 3, we also offer a Level 2 exam preparation course.

■ Civil Service Exam Preparation Course
The course is aimed at students aiming to take the Type II National Civil Service Examination or equivalent national civil service or local senior civil service examinations, but students aiming to work for private companies can also take the course as exam preparation.
We provide civil service guidance from the first and second years, and then from May of the third year until just before the entrance exams, we run original courses in collaboration with vocational schools outside the university, focusing on general education and specialized exams.

■ Diplomatic and International Affairs Guidance Office
For students aiming to become diplomats or international civil servants, the "Diplomacy, International Public Affairs, and Journalism Guidance Room" has been established on Aoyama Campus, where special courses and lectures are held by full-time faculty members, and the organization provides exam preparation guidance and study assistance. Membership procedures are completed at the beginning of the academic year.

A new generation of analysis tool that visualizes data on electronic maps

A Geographic Information System (GIS) is a system that overlays various location-related data, such as population and facility locations, onto electronic maps for searching and analysis. The application of GIS is expanding rapidly, including in urban planning and navigation, and in economics, GIS is increasingly being used for analyzing data such as census data and publicly announced land price data. Aoyama Gakuin University provides full-fledged GIS education and, with the active support of the university, has established the first specialized computer room (GIS lab) in an economics faculty at a Japanese university. We always have the latest GIS software and data, providing a cutting-edge learning environment.
