In order to cultivate global talent who can respond to the various challenges facing global society, School of Global Studies and Collaboration Studies places emphasis on "experiential knowledge" through studying abroad and learning and living in different cultural societies.

Study abroad in Southeast Asia, a country full of diversity, and experience its energy

A semester of undergraduate study abroad in Asia* is a pillar of the curriculum of School of Global Studies and Collaboration. In principle, all students who meet certain conditions will study abroad in Southeast Asia for 6 months during the second semester of their second year.
By experiencing and deepening your understanding of the energy of Asia, which can be said to be the center of economic growth, during your student years, you will be able to greatly expand the fields in which you can be active in the future. It is also possible to acquire practical English skills through studying abroad and living experiences in a different cultural society.
* "Undergraduate study abroad" recognized by our faculty includes semester-long study abroad at a faculty-affiliated partner university in Thailand, Malaysia, or Indonesia, as well as study abroad at a university-affiliated partner university in Asia for semester or more.

Study Abroad Support System

When studying abroad at a faculty-sponsored partner institution, a system is in place to ensure the safety of students, with the university, risk management companies, and insurance companies working together.

Students will gain more from studying abroad if they "take the initiative." To that end, in "Introduction to Study Abroad in Asia I and II," which runs from the second semester of the first year to the first semester of the second year, students learn the necessary knowledge and mindset for life abroad, including basic information about the system for studying abroad at inter-faculty partner universities and the host region and university. Completing these courses is a prerequisite for studying abroad at an inter-faculty partner university.

  1. Thailand: Chulalongkorn University

    Founded in 1917, it is a prestigious national university with the oldest history in Thailand. The campus is located in the Siam district of the capital, Bangkok. There are large shopping malls and markets around the university, but the campus is spacious and green, and is very quiet, making it an ideal environment for studying.

  2. Thailand: Mahidol University

    It originated as the first medical school in Thailand, established within Siriraj Hospital in 1888, and officially became a medical university in 1943. It received its current name, Mahidol University, in 1969. It is ranked at the top of the medical field, and has now become a comprehensive university with a variety of fields in addition to the medical department, including health sciences, engineering, social sciences, and business administration.

  3. Thailand: Thammasat University

    Founded in 1934, it is known as one of the most difficult national universities in Thailand. The campus is located in the famous tourist area of Tha Phra Chan near the Royal Palace. There are many historical sites, museums, markets and other tourist attractions around the university, making it a lively place, but at the same time, it is a place where time flows very slowly along the river.

  4. Thailand: Srinakharinwirot University

    It was established as a university in 1949, originally a normal school for the purpose of training teachers. It is now a comprehensive university with faculties of social sciences, international studies, and science. Although the campus is located in the center of Bangkok, where high-rise buildings stand in the office district, it has a calm atmosphere.

  5. Thailand: Kasetsart University

    This is a prestigious national university in Thailand, formerly known as the University of Agriculture, founded in 1943. It is the third oldest university in Thailand and is one of the top-ranked comprehensive universities in the country. The study abroad destination is the main campus, Bang Kaen Campus, which is a very large and lush campus.

  6. Malaysia: University of Malaya

    Located in the southwest of Kuala Lumpur, this is a representative university in Malaysia with a vast campus. Its predecessors were King Edward VII College of Pharmacy, founded in 1905, and Raffles College, founded in 1928, and it was established in Singapore in 1949 by merging these two. It was once divided into Singapore and Kuala Lumpur, but was approved as a national university in 1962.

  7. Malaysia: Universiti Kuala Lumpur

    Founded in 2002, it is a university of engineering and technology. It is 100% owned by an organization under the Ministry of Rural and Regional Development and is committed to improving technical and vocational education. The campus is located in the heart of Kuala Lumpur and has many agreements and collaborations with European universities.

  8. Malaysia: Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR)

    Established in 2002 as a non-profit higher education institution wholly owned by the UTAR Education Foundation, it has since gained a reputation as the fastest growing university in Malaysia. The overwhelming majority of students are Chinese, and many things on campus are written in Chinese characters.

  9. Indonesia: Gadjah Mada University

    It is a national university in Yogyakarta, Indonesia, established in 1949. Young people who will lead the future of Indonesia gather on the campus from all over Indonesia, and it is full of intellectual atmosphere and vitality.
