Message from the Dean

Graduate School of International Politics, Economics and Communication was established in 1986 as an "open graduate school" for the study of international politics, international economics, and international communication. Among the graduates of this school, not only have they become researchers who teach at universities, but some have also put their learning to use in the workplace as more advanced specialists, having systematized their many years of work experience academically, or have continued research as a life's work. With daytime and evening classes available, the school is open to working adults and international students alike.
There are three main features of the education offered by this graduate school. First, the curriculum is designed to allow students to study international politics, international economics, and international communication individually, or to deepen their learning in an integrated and organic way across the three majors. Second, lectures are offered not only by researchers, but also by people with practical experience working on the front lines of international organizations and government agencies, as well as intensive lectures by renowned researchers from overseas. Third, in addition to aiming to acquire deep specialized knowledge for research, there are also a wide range of courses on research methodology and procedures.
Advances in IT technology and machine translation have made it easy for us to exchange opinions with anyone in the world over the internet. However, our global society faces many challenges, including poverty, regional conflicts, international terrorism, international financial instability, environmental destruction, religious friction, and pandemics.
Our goal is to provide a place for many people to study and generate new knowledge about international politics, international economy, and international communication through mutual study among the people who gather there. We hope that people who wish to conduct research to solve the various problems facing global society will participate in our studies.
