Educational and research objectives
Department of Education aims to develop talented individuals who have a broad range of education and deep professional knowledge of education, and who are motivated to contribute to the creation of a better society. Based on the academic field of human growth and development, the department studies people who live independently in various societies and environments, the roles they play, their actions and thoughts, and the relationships and communication between people.
Diploma Policy (Policy for Graduation Certification and Degree Awarding)
■ Knowledge and skills
Through university-wide liberal arts education and specialized education in pedagogy, students are equipped with theoretical and practical knowledge that allows them to grasp the broad range of human growth throughout their lives.
■Thinking ability, judgment ability, expressive ability
Students will have the ability to understand the various issues facing modern society, which is becoming increasingly pluralistic and complex, and possess the necessary skills (including the ability to think, make judgments, and express themselves) to carry out scientific research to clarify these issues.
■ Motivation, interest, and attitude
They pursue the essence and ideal form of education and have the desire (including interest and attitude) to deepen their understanding of the human being who carries it out.
Curriculum Policy (Policy for creating and implementing educational courses)
In order to achieve the human resource development objectives of the department, the curriculum of the Department of Education is organized into the following subjects: (1) foreign language subjects (English subjects) as language education, (2) The Aoyama Standard subjects (including second foreign language subjects) as liberal arts education, and (3) the following Department of Education subjects as specialized education.
■ Department of Education Subjects
Group 0: Courses related to the foundation of pedagogy
Group I: Courses related to the exploration of human development
Group II: Courses related to clinical education and lifelong development
Group III: Courses related to educational information and media
Group IV: Courses related to early childhood education
Group V: Courses related to child pedagogy
Group VI: Subjects related to secondary education
Group VII: Courses related to Christian education
The following policy will be adopted regarding the composition and placement of courses for each stage (grade level). In other words, the foundation of basic liberal arts is positioned as comprehensive research on human beings, and in the first and second years, foreign language subjects (English subjects) and The Aoyama Standard subjects (including second foreign language subjects) are placed at the center of the course, and basic Department of Education subjects corresponding to each academic field of pedagogy (compulsory subjects and elective compulsory subjects are designated in Group 0~V above). From the third year onwards, in order to promote more specialized learning in pedagogy, students take five courses (subject groups) on various issues related to pedagogy, namely, the Human Development Exploration Course, which focuses on Group I, the Clinical Education and Lifelong Development Course, which focuses on Group III subjects, the Early Childhood Education Course, which focuses on Group IV subjects. V. Students will take Department of Education subjects as part of the Children's Education Course, which focuses on Group subjects.
In addition, the following points shall be noted in the arrangement of courses and compositions.
1) Cultivate knowledge and skills through a wide range of theoretical and practical studies of the mechanisms of physical and psychological development of human beings living in culture and society and the relationship between education and education, mainly through lecture subjects.
2) Cultivate the ability to think, make judgments, and express oneself through compulsory seminar subjects Department of Education such as "Basic Seminar I" and "Basic Seminar II" in the first year, "Applied Seminar I" and "Applied Seminar II" in the second year, "Specialized Seminar I" and "Specialized Seminar II" in the third year, and "Graduation Research I" and "Graduation Research II" in the fourth year, as well as practical training subjects.
3) By allowing students to take courses from courses other than the selected course (course group), we will establish a curriculum that covers a wide range of study fields, has a wide range of choices, and has few restrictions on courses, and cultivates the motivation, interest, and attitude of each student so that he or she can learn about human development and society from a broad perspective, make use of the excellent and original expertise he or she has acquired, and accurately choose his or her future direction.
Admission Policy

Possesses knowledge equivalent to a high school graduate in subjects such as Japanese language, geography, history, civics, mathematics, science, and English.
■Thinking ability, judgment ability, expressive ability
Be able to think and judge logically about people and society, and express one's own thoughts appropriately.
■ Motivation, interest, and attitude
They have a deep interest in human growth, development and formation, and possess a broad intellectual curiosity and strong desire to explore educational issues from a broad perspective and learn about education and related fields.
