International Economics Course (Master's degree)
Subject Name | Features |
Multinational Corporations | We will consider the impact of multinational corporate activities (or foreign direct investment) on the productivity, wages, market size, and tax revenues of local companies in the investing country. We will also focus on current issues such as anti-globalization movements, and through empirical analysis using firm-level panel data, we will learn whether economic globalization really benefits investing countries. |
Macroeconomics II | In the first half of the course, students will learn about international macroeconomics topics such as changes in capital mobility and the effectiveness of macroeconomic policies, models of speculative attacks in emerging countries, and interdependence and policy coordination among countries. In the second half of the course, students will consider theoretical frameworks for understanding economic growth. Lectures will be given in English. |
Econometrics I | What can we learn from data? In this class, we will learn how to analyze data. Although the name of the class is econometrics, knowledge of economics is not required to understand the content of the class, and the analytical methods introduced in this class are used in various fields other than economics. Students who are interested in data analysis are welcome, even if they are not interested in economics. |
