Three Policies

We would like to introduce three policies of Aoyama Gakuin University 's Graduate School of Social Informatics Department of Social Informatics.

Three Policies for the Master's Program

  • Diploma Policy (Policy for Completion Certification and Awarding of Degrees)

    ■ Knowledge and skills
・Students have acquired the academic knowledge and skills necessary to analytically grasp and attempt to solve the various problems in modern society where "people, society, and information" are intricately intertwined. Furthermore, they have a thorough understanding of one or more specialized fields.

    - In the Social Informatics course, students will have acquired sufficient knowledge and skills in mathematical literacy, logical thinking, communication skills, and the use of information.

    - In the Human Innovation course, students will have acquired sufficient knowledge and skills in theories and research methods related to "learning" and "organizations and communities."

■Thinking ability, judgment ability, expressive ability
    - Possess the multifaceted thinking and judgment skills to consider from multiple angles solutions to the problems of modern society where "people, society, and information" are intricately intertwined.

    - Possess the ability to explain academic research accurately and clearly, even to those who do not share the same specialty.

    ■ Motivation, interest, and attitude
・You will be able to study and research not only matters directly related to your research topic, but also take into account broader social issues.

・Ability to conduct research in accordance with research ethics.

    - Have a strong desire to give back research results to society at large.

  • Curriculum Policy (Policy for creating and implementing educational courses)

    ■ Knowledge and skills
The basic subjects for the entire course include English-related subjects, which provide the basic foundation for understanding the various issues facing modern society where "human beings, society, and information" are intricately intertwined, and "Special Lectures in Social Informatics," which is taught jointly by multiple faculty members from the fields of social science, information science, and human science and provides a multifaceted perspective on modern society.

In the Social Informatics course, we offer specialized courses in each of the fields of social science, information science, and human science as an extension of the learning in School of Social Informatics. In addition, by providing a course model that spans multiple fields, we aim to provide students with specialized knowledge and skills that will enable them to approach various issues in modern society from multiple perspectives with a broad perspective that is not limited by the boundaries of traditional academic fields.

The Human Innovation course offers basic subjects such as "Principles of Learning", which teaches the basic results of research on the human learning process, "Principles of Learning Design", which teaches methods for producing effective learning in organizations and communities, and "Learning Research Methods", which teaches methods for learning research.By then organizing specialized subjects into "Learning Studies" and "Learning Design", the course aims to achieve a balanced understanding of scientific understanding of learning phenomena and the acquisition of practical design methods.

■Thinking ability, judgment ability, expressive ability
We have established research guidance courses where students can learn, through individual guidance from research advisors, how to conduct analysis and come up with ideas in order to academically approach complex phenomena that straddle the domains of "human beings, society, and information," as well as effective methods for presenting research results.

    ■ Motivation, interest, and attitude
Through individual guidance from supervising professors in research courses, students aim to increase their knowledge and awareness of research ethics and social contribution.

A special internship training course will be offered as an opportunity to concretely consider the connection between research and the real world.

  • Admission Policy

    ■ Knowledge and skills
Possess knowledge and skills equivalent to an undergraduate degree related to the research topic.

■Thinking ability, judgment ability, expressive ability
Ability to develop research plans, conduct research, and write papers at a level equivalent to undergraduate graduation.

    ■ Motivation, interest, and attitude
They are interested in the problems facing modern society in which "people, society, and information" are intricately intertwined, and are eager to link these problems to their own research themes.

Understand the importance of observing research ethics and contributing research results back to society.
