POLICY Three Policies
1. Diploma Policy (Policy for Graduation Certification and Degree Awarding)
School of Social Informatics will award a Bachelor's Degree (Academic) to students who meet the following requirements.
■ Knowledge and skills
They have acquired a wide range of knowledge concerning "people, society, and information" that surrounds modern society.
Students have acquired the basic knowledge and skills in mathematical literacy, logical thinking, communication skills, and information utilization.
■Thinking ability, judgment ability, expressive ability
We understand that the complex intertwining of "people, society, and information" issues surrounding modern society must be approached from multiple disciplines, not just a single one.
Students will be able to acquire the basics of one or more specialized fields that are the elements of the complex intertwining of "people, society, and information" that surrounds modern society, and be able to think logically and make judgments on their own.
You will be able to grasp the complex problems surrounding modern society that involve the intertwining of "people, society, and information" and establish a definite policy for efforts to resolve these problems.
■ Motivation, interest, and attitude
Have broad knowledge relating to "people, society, and information" and are eager to become part of a project that tackles social issues (teamwork).
Have a broad knowledge of "people, society, and information" and have the desire to continue learning (learning).
2. Curriculum Policy (Policy for creating and implementing the curriculum)
Department of Social Informatics School of Social Informatics' goal of cultivating talent: "To cultivate talent who can understand human behavior and economic activity and answer questions related to them, and who can logically analyze a variety of data and answer social questions."
All students are required to have four skills: mathematical literacy, logical thinking, communication skills, and advanced use of information. Furthermore, by using these skills as a weapon to delve into one or more of the existing academic fields of psychology/learning, management/economics, and information/mathematics, students will be able to gain an overview of these existing fields and create new value. In order to advance these goals, we will place emphasis on practical themes and training for problem discovery and resolution. In addition to The Aoyama Standard liberal arts education, we will place emphasis on "communication in Japanese" and provide courses including training in Japanese writing and the basics of presentations. Furthermore, we will provide courses that provide thorough training to hone English communication skills. Students will learn "Introduction to Statistics," which is the foundation of analytical ability, "Basic Mathematics," which is used to elucidate society, humans, and information, and the basics of "Information Science" and "Computers," which are the foundations for effectively utilizing these.
Through these efforts, we aim to nurture students who have a broad knowledge of "people, society, and information," who can become part of projects addressing social issues, and who have the desire to continue learning.
3. Admission Policy
■ Knowledge and skills
Students will have an understanding of the contents of Japanese language, foreign language, geography and history, civics, mathematics, etc., and will have knowledge equivalent to that of a high school graduate.
■Thinking ability, judgment ability, expressive ability
Able to consider things from multiple perspectives and logically, and organize one's thoughts.
■ Motivation, interest, and attitude
After understanding the characteristics of the department, students have an interest in topics such as "people, society, and information," and are motivated to pursue these interests through their studies at university and to utilize their specialized knowledge and skills to benefit society.
