Residence Procedures

Regular international students who have been admitted to our university should carefully read the following three cases, A, B, or C, and follow the appropriate procedure to complete the residence procedure. Students who have passed the undergraduate entrance examination for international students should also read the "Guidelines for Admission Procedures for International Students."
*If you already have a "Student" visa and your visa expires after June of the year you enroll, you do not need to complete any residence procedures before enrolling. You can apply for an extension of your period of stay after enrolling.

For those planning to enroll in the undergraduate program

Foreign nationals who have been admitted to our university through the entrance examination for international students (undergraduate) must have obtained the status of residence "Student" as stipulated in the Immigration Control and Refugee Recognition Act by the deadline specified in the "Guidelines for Admission Procedures for International Students," or must have applied for a "Certificate of Eligibility" to the Immigration Bureau of the Ministry of Justice. Please also check the Guidelines for Admission Procedures for International Students.

For those planning to enroll in graduate or Professional Graduate Schools

Changing your status of residence to "Student" is optional. If you wish to renew or obtain a "Student" status of residence, please follow the procedures A to C above. Although there is no set deadline for obtaining a "Student" status of residence, in order to take classes, you will need to obtain a status of residence that allows for mid- to long-term stay, including the "Student" status of residence.
*Most scholarships for international students both within and outside the university require a "study abroad" visa status.

Those who have a residence card and were enrolled in other universities, vocational schools, Japanese language schools, etc. in Japan before enrolling at our university.

When graduating from another university or Japanese language school, you will need to submit a "Notification of Active Institution (Leaving)" to the Immigration Bureau. When enrolling at our university, you will need to submit a "Notification of Active Institution (Transfer)."
