International Center Basic Policy

Since its founding in 1874, our university has promoted human education that allows students to share universal values based on English education as a comprehensive university of natural and social sciences under a consistent educational system from Kindergarten Building to graduate school. The role of our International Center is to support education related to the internationalization of the university and to support the development of international people.

The main duties include dispatching and accepting exchange students to overseas partner and accredited schools, accepting self-financed international students, planning and running programs and events such as short-term language and cultural training courses, and promoting the internationalization of the university through the conclusion of agreements and exchanges with overseas universities.

The worldwide trend of globalization is having a major impact not only on corporate activities and relations between nations, but also on the structure and curriculum of university education. With this in mind, the International Center will further strengthen and expand cooperation between our university and overseas universities, while respecting the diverse cultures and customs of each country and the different values of students.

Greetings from the Director and Vice Director

Director of the International Center Professor School of Global Studies and Collaboration Kiyoshi Masumoto

Welcome to Aoyama Gakuin University (AGU) International Center.
The AGU International Center provides support for international students who wish to study at AGU, as well as AGU students who wish to study abroad.

Living in a country different from the one you were born and raised in, and studying with local students and international students from other countries, should be an invaluable experience for you. Fresh surprises, new discoveries, and many new encounters are sure to await you. It's not just fun; you'll also experience things that are different from what you expected, confusion, and failure. However, each and every one of these experiences will help you grow.

We hope that students coming to Japan from overseas will learn more about Japan at AGU and develop the ability to see the world through Japan. AGU has two campuses. The Aoyama Campus, where the school headquarters is located, is located in Sibuya, the cultural hub of Tokyo, and provides easy access to the latest in Japanese culture. Sagamihara Campus, located about an hour from the city center, is a spacious and beautiful campus that offers a relaxed learning environment.

I hope that all of you, both international and AGU students, will make many friends from other countries. We live in difficult times, with conflict, environmental destruction, poverty and widening disparities, but I fervently hope that you will join hands to overcome the world's difficult problems.
