Testimonial | This book selects well-known Western theatrical works and attempts that depict attitudes toward and overcoming difficulties and oppression in the traumatic situations caused by wars during and after the wars of the 20th and 21st centuries, and then reexamines the significance of these works from the perspective of the desire for "healing" and the "ethics" that govern it. Judgments about the "ethical" correctness of "healing" from various standpoints can sometimes lead to fierce conflict and violent tensions. By dividing the period from the first half of the 20th century to the beginning of the 21st century into four periods and carefully examining the individual contexts of each era and country, the findings will provide important insights for our contemporary judgments and actions as we confront the difficult and violent realities of war and terrorism. |

Testimonial | The distinctive feature of this book is that it includes testimonies from people who experienced the Great East Japan Earthquake together with biblical interpretations. This was planned from the beginning of the project. The Bible itself is sometimes said to be "a book of testimonies from people who believed in God." But what are these "testimonies"? Witnesses try to convey what happened to them as accurately as possible to others. However, sometimes it is not possible to convey the truth. Especially if one has survived an extreme situation, they may feel frustrated by not being able to convey the truth. There is a book in the Bible called "Lamentations." It is thought to be a collection of words uttered by people who experienced the destruction of Jerusalem in the 6th century BC, in the midst of their suffering. Putting their harsh experiences into words, writing them down, and reading them. I hope that through each of these actions, they will be engraved in our memories and transformed into hope. |
