Educational and research objectives

Department of History aims to produce talented people who can comprehensively and objectively analyze today's world situation and culture by studying a wide range of subjects across regions and genres, including Japanese history, Eastern history, Western history, and archaeology, and who can establish themselves and open up prospects for the future through the acquisition of specialized knowledge.

Diploma Policy (Policy for Graduation Certification and Degree Awarding)

■ Knowledge and skills
They have broad knowledge of history and archaeology and have acquired basic methods for understanding Japanese history, Eastern history, Western history, and archaeology.

■Thinking ability, judgment ability, expressive ability
Students will acquire historical thinking skills and be able to express the content logically in their graduation thesis or other writings.

■ Motivation, interest, and attitude
Based on historical thinking, they have the ability to understand modern society and the desire to contribute to society.

Curriculum Policy (Policy for creating and implementing educational courses)

■ Knowledge and skills
Students will study a wide range of subjects across regions and eras, including Japanese history, Eastern history, Western history, and archaeology. They will also acquire basic knowledge and develop the skills to understand history through The Aoyama Standard Subjects and common subjects for College of Literature.

■Thinking ability, judgment ability, expressive ability
Through lectures, reading historical documents, exercises, and writing a graduation thesis, students will learn the methods of historical criticism, which are fundamental to history and archaeology, and be able to express the results of their learning.

■ Motivation, interest, and attitude
Through learning basic methods in history and archaeology and through fieldwork, students will acquire the ability to discover problems, think about them, and seek to solve them on their own.

Admission Policy

Possesses knowledge equivalent to a high school graduate in Japanese language, foreign language, geography, history, civics, etc.

Be able to logically express your interest in history and archaeology.
