Aoyama Gakuin University is a target institution for the "New National Support System for Higher Education (Tuition Reductions and Grant-Type Scholarships)" which was launched in 2020.
*You may be able to receive both a scholarship from the Japan Student Services Organization and a tuition fee reduction from your university at the same time, depending on your support category.
◆ Amount of Grant (annual) (All faculties)
*If your classification changes during the fiscal year, the amount of reduction or exemption and benefit will also change.
*Admission fee reductions are only valid if applied for at the time of enrollment.
*Classifications I to IV are based on household income.
(For classification, please refer to the following Japan Student Services Organization scholarship simulation for estimates.)

In principle, information regarding applications and recruitment for this system will be provided via the Aoyama Gakuin University Student Portal.
Those who wish to apply should refer to the recruitment information posted on the university website and student portal and apply accordingly. Please be sure to check the information frequently.
To all examinees,
Those who applied for this system while enrolled in high school, etc., and are selected as reserved candidates will still be required to pay the admission fee, etc., when completing the enrollment procedure. Starting in the 2025 academic year, a system of free university tuition fees for large families (a system in which tuition and admission fees are free up to a certain amount set by the government) will begin. Spring 2025 Student Recruitment (New Students and Current Students)
This also applies to students (second year or above) who have been enrolled since before 2024.
*We do not plan to accept advance reservations or other hiring procedures during fiscal year 2024.
<Application Procedure>
Information about application procedures will be provided on the student portal from April 2025 onwards.
*People who fall into the category of large families must apply for the "Higher Education Support System (grant scholarships and tuition reductions)" through JASSO (Japan Student Services Organization)'s "Enrollment Recruitment" within the designated period and undergo screening. Even if you are a large family, you will not automatically be eligible for reductions or exemptions.
*You will not be able to receive tuition reductions or exemptions for semesters prior to the time you are accepted into this system.
In the detailed file under “5. Support recipients,” please carefully check the “Resident tax assessment information used for assessment” that corresponds to the time of application, and be sure not to miss the application period.
(Example) If you applied for and were accepted in the September second semester enrollment program
⇒ The reduction will apply to the tuition fees for the second semester of the academic year. Tuition reductions will not be applied retroactively to the first semester of the academic year.
2. Amount of reduction/exemption
Tuition reduction: up to 700,000 yen / Admission fee reduction: 1st year first semester only, up to 200,000 yen
*Please note that this is not a system that will make all tuition fees free.
3. Payment of tuition fees
If you apply for enrollment in April, the results will be available in early July.
Tuition fees will be handled as detailed below until the results of the certification are announced, and refunds of tuition fee reductions and exemptions are scheduled to begin from mid-July.
4. Income Restrictions
There are no income restrictions for applying.
5. Eligibility for support: Large families with three or more children
This refers to cases where the breadwinner is supporting three or more children. If three children are supported at the same time, support will be provided starting from the first child. If the first child becomes financially independent after getting a job and is no longer supported, they will no longer be eligible for support.
