As globalization progresses, the opportunities for students of our university to travel abroad have increased dramatically, but as symbolized by the frequent occurrence of natural disasters and terrorist attacks in recent years, it can be said that there is no longer any safe place in the world. In light of this global situation, please refer to the information below regarding safety management overseas, and keep in mind the motto "protect yourself" and take steps to take before and after traveling.
Before traveling
Notification to the relevant departments on campus (for students taking a leave of absence)
If you are taking a leave of absence from the University and will be traveling abroad for more than three months, please submit the required notification. Academic Affairs Department Academic Affairs Division When you apply for a leave of absence at the University or at Sagamihara Campus Administration Department Academic Affairs Division, you will receive an "Overseas Travel Information Form" along with the "Leave of Absence Form". Please submit the form along with the "Leave of Absence Form". Please submit the form together with the "Leave of Absence Form" to the above-mentioned department.
Overseas study insurance
Those traveling overseas for study abroad programs handled by the International Center (study abroad at partner universities, study abroad at accredited universities, overseas language and cultural training, Tobitate! Study Abroad JAPAN Japan Representative Program, internships, etc.) must enroll in overseas study insurance designated by the International Center. Travel will not be permitted if you do not enroll. The International Center will provide you with further information before your departure.
In addition, if you are traveling abroad on your own, you must enroll in overseas study insurance that covers you from the time you leave Japan until the day you return home.
[Travel period: less than 3 months] Register with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' overseas travel registration "Tabi-Regi"
Tabi-Regi is a service that allows short-term (less than 3 months) overseas travelers to receive ① safety information for their destination and ② safety confirmation contacts in case of an emergency by registering their itinerary, destination, contact information, etc. with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in advance. Registration can be done on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs website or on your smartphone (free of charge).

After travel
[For those staying for 3 months or more] Submit a "Residence Notification" to the nearest Japanese embassy in the country you are staying in.
According to Article 16 of the Passport Act, anyone who has established an address or residence in a foreign country and stays there for three months or more is required to promptly submit a residence notification to the Japanese embassy or consulate general that has jurisdiction over that area. If you are caught up in an incident, accident, or unexpected disaster overseas, the Japanese embassy or consulate general will use the residence notification to confirm the address and emergency contact information of the person registered and provide assistance. Please register on the following website after traveling abroad. Also, please submit a return notification when you return to Japan.
