Economics Major

In accordance with the purpose of establishing the Graduate School of Department of Economics conducts future-oriented Graduate School of Economics, such as establishing a perspective on economic growth and development that takes into account economic globalization, the information society, and the arrival of an aging society, as well as reaffirming welfare ideals and resource and environmental issues.
The master's course is a course that cultivates deep academic knowledge from a broad perspective and develops the research skills in economics and the abilities required for occupations that require a high level of expertise, while the doctoral course is a course that cultivates the abilities and rich academic knowledge that are the foundation for research activities, so that those who have completed the master's course can become independent researchers. Students must be enrolled in the master's course for more than two years, and in the doctoral course for more than three years, and if they write and submit a thesis under the research guidance of a research supervisor and pass the review and final examination, they will be awarded a master's or doctoral degree according to the course.
In the future, we plan to develop a curriculum for our master's program that incorporates the needs of the real world, and take advantage of the Aoyama Campus' location in the city center to promote the creation of an environment where working adults can study to advance their careers.
Meanwhile, in the doctoral program, we are strengthening the system for training so-called "course doctorates" to support students who aim to become researchers or university professors in the future.
