Exchange program with partner universities
——Please tell us about the university where you studied.
I studied abroad at our partner university, San Francisco State University, for one year. This university accepts international students from many countries, so I had many opportunities to come into contact with the cultures and values of many different countries. The campus is located south of San Francisco, and it takes about 40 minutes by train or bus to get to downtown. There are golf courses and a large lake near the university. There are also cafes, restaurants, a gym, and dormitories on campus, and a shopping mall nearby, so it was like a city in itself.
--What classes and extracurricular activities did you take part in at university?
At university, I took classes in marketing, tourism, and communications. The class that made the biggest impression on me was advertising. We were able to see a lot of American advertisements based on the theme, and the classes taught by professors with a lot of experience in advertising were very interesting. As for extracurricular activities, I participated in a language exchange. I taught Japanese and talked about Japanese culture. I was surprised that the overseas students knew more about Japanese anime and music than I did. I felt proud to be Japanese, and we were able to share a fun time together.

Overseas language and cultural training
--What university did you attend and what classes did you take?
The city campus of Monash University, where I will be doing my training, is located in the center of Melbourne, with convenient transportation and many tourist attractions. The facilities on campus are also clean, and there are many international students.
In class, we communicated in English, and the content was also for IELTS preparation, so we worked hard every day. For example, after listening training, we immediately moved on to writing practice. After writing the sentences, we read the long text and present our understanding and opinions by ourselves. We also do activities in groups every week. In the first week, each group had an activity where they found interesting places in Melbourne, and we walked around the center of Melbourne and found many delicious cafes and art museums.
I was staying in a town called Brighton, and I could walk to the famous tourist spot, Brighton Beach. Every day when I went to school by train, I could see the beautiful sea, and it was a wonderful start to the day.
——In the future, you will study at a university abroad!
Through this training, I have had the opportunity to meet new people and learn new things. After graduation, I would like to continue my studies at a graduate school in an English-speaking country and continue my explorations.
