British Poetry A Seminar I/II | The goal is to write a thesis as an intellectual task of objectifying the subjective, centering on the emotion gained from deeply absorbing John Milton's epic poem Paradise Regained, while also learning about the spirit of the period when England was transitioning from the Renaissance to the modern era. |
American Novel C Studies I/II | The importance of the historical novel in 1820s America is widely recognized as a precursor to the American Romantic literature that flourished in the mid-19th century. Using James Fenimore Cooper's historical novel as my subject, I will examine the genre's intentions in the historical novel of this period. |
English Syntax Seminar I/II | After an overview of the basic framework of generative grammar theory, we will read a paper summarizing the current debates regarding relative clauses, and based on that, we will consider a better theory of relative clauses that overcomes the problems of the current framework. |
English Education Theory Seminar I/II | Research on successful learners began in the 1970s, and owes much to the results of second language acquisition research, particularly research on the "learning strategies" and "autonomous learners" used by successful learners. Here, we will consider how to deal with successful learners in actual educational settings, while examining the relationship between successful learners and other factors. |

Research Guidance Seminars V to X | This course provides students with all the information they need to continue their research in English literature at the graduate level, helping them to identify and master new literary theories that suit them, while at the same time helping them to read and use non-literary sources. |
Research Guidance Seminars V to X | Building on the results of research in the Master's program, students aim to acquire advanced specialist knowledge of their research subject through setting research questions from a broader, critical perspective, researching materials, and analyzing texts, as well as the skills to effectively communicate their own views in academic papers. |
Research Guidance Seminars V to X | This course provides guidance in writing doctoral dissertations for students who wish to pursue more advanced specialized research in English linguistics based on the specialized knowledge and intellectual curiosity they have acquired in their master's or doctoral programs. |
Research Guidance Seminars V to X | This program provides guidance on the writing of doctoral dissertations from the perspective of English language education, with the aim of students building on the foundations of education and research in the Master's program to conduct more advanced and specialized academic research in English language education, develop in-depth academic knowledge and research abilities, and become leading researchers or teachers with highly specialized knowledge in the field of English language education in the future. |
